Its drag system employs non-contacting thin-film technology to maintain uniform resistance and reliable performance across temperatures from -40 to 140°F. TF drag permits fine resistance adjustments and supports whip-pan movement without requiring any manual reduction of the selected drag level.

A digital counterbalance display, illuminated drag controls, and a lighted bubble level further streamline setup for the camera operator, including when working in dim environments.

Precise Counterbalance

An innovative, patented spring mechanism with infinitely variable adjustment gives the Vision 250 pan-and-tilt head accurate counterbalance. The head remains balanced throughout its entire ±90° tilt range, substantially reducing the operator effort needed to control vertical movement. Once properly balanced, the camera can stay unattended at any angle without engaging the tilt brake. Its adjustable counterbalance system accommodates numerous combinations of lenses, batteries, viewfinders, and camera-mounted lights. A digital counterbalance readout further accelerates setup and enables repeatable balance settings. One button press activates the display for 15 seconds.

TF Thin-Film Drag Control

Vinten's TF Thin Film damping technology enables the Vision 250 to deliver stable drag and consistent operation under demanding conditions from -40 to 140°F. It supplies refined movement control during a shot's critical slow start, transitions smoothly into a whip pan, and instantly restores the original resistance when the movement concludes.

The calibrated drag knobs adjust continuously through a single rotation from fully engaged to off. They are backlit, with a sensor in the digital readout adapting their illumination to the surrounding lighting conditions.

Positive-Latching Interlock

The positive-latching interlock overrides the tilt brake, preventing a payload from shifting out of its fixed position and protecting the brake against premature wear.

Rapid Setup

Specialized design details enable quick deployment, an important advantage for operators who move continuously between positions. A double-threaded screw shank on the leveling bowl allows its lock to tighten and release rapidly, simplifying frequent camera-leveling adjustments, particularly over uneven terrain.

Distinctive rubber grip strips on the adjustable mounting plate hold the camera firmly in place.
