The supplied Flowtech legs form a lightweight support that operates either with or without the included mid-level spreader. Rather than using a conventional single- or dual-tube carbon-fiber configuration, the Vinten Flowtech 75 Carbon Fiber Tripod with Mid-Level Spreader and Rubber Feet employs reshaped legs engineered for enhanced torsional rigidity. Although the legs weigh under 7 pounds, they support payloads as heavy as 44 pounds. With the removable mid-level spreader installed, the tripod extends from a minimum height of 24" to a maximum of 61". One clamping lever per leg locks or releases all of its sections.
The three legs extend and retract independently. Once a leg is disconnected from the spreader, it can pivot without shifting either of the remaining legs, a valuable capability on rough or uneven terrain. The spreader may also be removed completely, allowing each leg to lock at one of three angles for spreader-free operation. This configuration supports an exceptionally wide stance for low-angle shots while retaining excellent resistance to twisting. Dual spikes beneath each leg increase traction on soft ground, while snap-on rubber feet improve grip and protect hard or delicate surfaces.
