View full details
For challenging productions that demand as many as four control channels and support for gimbals, Tilta provides the Nucleus Nano II Wireless Lens Control System with Control Handle Kit. It combines the Nano II Handwheel Controller with the gimbal-oriented Control Handle, two Lens Control Motor Kits, and the necessary mounting and power accessories, giving cinematographers extensive control and configuration flexibility. Assemble it as a shoulder rig for solo shooting, pair it with a monitor for follow-focus operation, or add the optional Wireless Receiver Module to control DJI RS 2 and RS 3 Pro gimbals remotely. The Control Handle Kit can adapt to all of these production scenarios.

Introducing Nucleus Nano II Wireless Lens Control System
Tilta Nucleus Nano II Setup Guide and Overview

Touchscreen Handwheel Controller

The outer section of the controller's 1.6" touchscreen dial displays its wireless channel, Wi-Fi condition, remaining battery power, Bluetooth connection, and standby state. The center presents focus, iris, and zoom parameters plus the A/B stop, while also allowing the screen to be locked or focusing to be switched between automatic and manual operation. Two additional menus are available from the home screen: one locks and modifies settings on a connected camera, and the other shows current lens parameters. The Handwheel Controller also provides motor pairing, manual Control Motor operation, and further customization options for the controller itself.

Flexible Control Handle Setups

Used separately, the Handwheel Controller and Control Handle can each operate as many as two channels; together, they support up to four, including focus, iris, zoom, and Tilta’s Mirage Motorized VND. A powered NATO Module connects the two controllers and routes energy from the handle’s internal Sony L-series battery to the handwheel for longer operation. Add an external monitor for follow-focus work, or pair the kit with the optional Wireless Receiver Module. This lets the joystick operate DJI RS 2 or RS 3 Pro gimbals and allows both the joystick and front focus dial to control RS Focus Motors. The extensive multichannel configuration choices accommodate cinematographers, camera assistants, and camera operators across diverse shooting conditions.

Nano II Lens Control Motor

An offset arrangement positions the motor drive away from the principal gear, helping prevent the unit from pulling away from the lens during operation. Its 0.8 MOD gear supports most cinema-standard lenses, and the supplied follow-focus adapter rings extend compatibility to mirrorless and DSLR lenses. Two USB-C connections are built into the motor. The first is an I/O port that enables multiple motors to be daisy-chained to one control source, while the second is an input-only port dedicated to motor power.

USB-C Connectivity and Power Options

When connected by cable to select Canon and Sony cameras, the handwheel's USB-C I/O port enables camera control. Connecting it to the Nano II Lens Control Motors or Control Handle also permits firmware updates. Both ports support PD Fast Charging for rapid replenishment of the internal 1800mAh battery, which delivers up to 20 hours of operation depending on usage. Attaching the handwheel to the Control Handle integrates the handle's Sony L-series battery instead. Tilta's L-Series battery plate is also supplied for hot-swappable power, along with a D-Tap to USB-C cable that accepts up to 14.8V and allows the Nano II motors to produce maximum torque.

Straightforward Pairing and Setup

Begin by choosing a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi channel to connect the Handwheel Controller wirelessly with the Lens Control Motor. Complete pairing by pressing the motor's function button, then cycle among the available assignments: iris, zoom, focus, and other. Colored indicator lights identify each selection, with green representing iris, blue indicating zoom, purple denoting focus, and yellow marking other. Press and hold the function button to run automatic motor calibration. To connect motors with the Control Handle, use the M button to select E-Z Mode from the Wireless submenu, double-press the motor's function button, and then press M once more.

Included Mounting Hardware

Beyond its power equipment, the Control Handle Kit supplies Tilta's 15mm Rod Holder to Dual 1/4"-20 Adapter for securing motors and rods to a camera cage, a rubber rod support, two 6" aluminum 15mm rods for mounting multiple motors, and a 1/4"-20 Accessory Mounting Bracket with locating pins. The bracket can support equipment such as an external monitor for follow-focus applications.

System Compatibility

Backward compatibility allows the Nano II Wireless Lens Control System to integrate with earlier Nucleus-Nano and Nucleus-M lens motors already in your equipment collection. Through Bluetooth only, the current firmware provides complete control support for the BMPCC 4K, 6K, and 6K Pro. Partial USB-C PD cable control—including run/stop, shutter speed, ISO, and iris adjustment—is available for the Sony FX3, A7S3, A7R5, ZV-E1, and ZV-E10, as well as the Canon R7. The included mounting hardware lets you install the Nano II Control Handle Kit within a DJI RS 2 or RS 3 Pro gimbal setup. Add the optional Wireless Receiver Module for cordless control of the gimbal and DJI RS Focus Motor.
