Combining the durability needed for everyday camera-rig use with a lightweight build suited to handheld, gimbal, stabilizer, and drone setups, the Tilta Mirage VND Kit with Mirage Matte Box uses a modular system that clamps onto lenses with a 95mm outer diameter. Its included variable ND system provides precise adjustment from 1 to 9 stops whenever required. Comparable in weight to a standard 4 x 5.65" glass filter, the matte box accepts Tilta 95mm circular filters through the supplied filter adapter. Its modular construction allows the configuration to be tailored for each individual shot.
A rigid hood and detachable top flag are included to control glare and shield the image from overhead flare. The four supplied lens adapters attach the Mirage Matte Box to threaded lens fronts measuring 67, 72, 77, or 82mm. An optional stackable 4 x 5.65" filter holder supports mounting 4 x 5.65" filters to the matte box. Additional separately available modules include a top flag, a dual circular filter tray, a filter protector, and a rubber hood designed for filming against windows.

Precise ND adjustment from 0.3 to 2.7 stops is provided by the included VND module. Integrated hard stops spanning ND 0.3 through 2.7 help minimize the possibility of the unwanted X-pattern shadow. A wider axis between the filter elements and a color-neutral design preserve natural-looking colors. To reduce vignetting, Tilta recommends using ND 0.3 to 2.1 with wide-angle lenses and ND 2.1 to 2.7 at focal lengths longer than 35mm. The geared adjustment assembly also permits operation of the VND module with an optional motor.
Integrated vents guide airflow through the matte box body, helping decrease wind resistance and increase stability while capturing fast-moving subjects, including shots taken from a car or drone.
Numerous configurations are possible with the modular design. Use a minimal setup consisting only of the 95mm filter holder and lens clamp, or expand it with a stackable 4 x 5.65" tray, the supplied lens hood and top flag, or an optional rubber hood in place of the standard hood. An optional 15mm LWS rod support can also secure the matte box to rods when carrying heavier filter arrangements, including the optional VND (variable neutral density) system.
Tilta's circular 95mm filter system covers lenses with outer barrel diameters up to 95mm while offering substantial weight reduction compared with conventional filters. Each round filter weighs approximately one-quarter as much as a traditional 4 x 5.65" glass filter.
Position an optional stackable 4 x 5.65" filter tray between the filter clamp and matte box hood to conveniently install one or two 4 x 5.65" filters.
