Rugged enough for everyday rig use yet light enough for handheld cameras, gimbals, stabilizers, and drones, the Tilta Mirage Matte Box uses a modular system that clamps onto the 95mm-OD lenses commonly found in digital cinema and film production. Its overall weight is comparable to one standard 4 x 5.65" glass filter. The included adapter accepts Tilta 95mm circular filters, while the configurable design lets you tailor the matte box to each individual shot.
A rigid hood and removable upper flag are supplied to reduce glare and shield the image from overhead flare. Four included lens rings fit threaded fronts measuring 67, 72, 77, and 82mm, and a soft carrying case protects the Mirage during storage and transportation. Add an optional stackable holder to use 4 x 5.65" filters, or install Tilta’s optional VND system for precise remote control of variable ND effects. Other separately available modules include a top flag, dual circular-filter tray, filter protector, and rubber hood for placing the lens against windows. An optional 15mm LWS clamp also permits rod mounting, removing weight from the lens and supporting lenses with rotating front elements.

Integrated ventilation directs airflow through the matte box body, reducing wind resistance and helping stabilize the rig when recording fast-moving subjects, shooting from a car, or operating on a drone.
Setup options range from a minimal configuration using only the 95mm holder and lens clamp to builds incorporating a stackable 4 x 5.65" tray, the included hood, and supplied top flag. The standard hood may also be exchanged for an optional rubber version. Adding the optional 15mm LWS support transfers heavier filter loads to rods, including those produced by the optional VND (variable neutral density) system.
Tilta’s 95mm circular filter system covers lenses with outer barrel diameters as large as 95mm. These round filters weigh roughly one-quarter as much as conventional 4 x 5.65" glass filters, substantially reducing rig weight.
A separately available stackable 4 x 5.65" tray installs between the filter clamp and hood, enabling one or two 4 x 5.65" filters to be added easily.
