Constructed on RED's DSMC3 platform, the XE offers a large-format VV sensor in a lightweight 4 lb body, capturing 8K footage in up to 60 fps with 17+ stops of dynamic range. Balancing high-end performance with class-leading value, the XE omits enhanced Global Vision attributes like Phantom Track and Extended Highlights, but retains the same picture quality, process flexibility, and robust interfacing that define RED's V-RAPTOR line.

8K VV Sensor with Global Shutter
The 35.4MP large-format VV sensor incorporates a global shutter, eliminating the artifacts produced by rolling shutters in scenes with rapid motion or flashing lights. The XE maintains distortion-free motion capture while maintaining full detail, contrast, and dynamic range across every frame. Delivering a multitude of definition and frame-rate options, the camera captures 17:9 footage up to 8192 x 4320 whenever utilizing its entire VV sensor.

Intelligent Autofocus

Dynamic Range
The V-RAPTOR XE produces 17+ stops of dynamic range, with REDCODE Raw preserving fine detail in both extreme highlights and deep shadows. With class-leading performance in low light, the XE maintains saturation in shadows while reducing fixed pattern noise.
Flexible Footage Recording
Sporting a single CFexpress Type B card slot, the XE records internally to a compatible media card with data rates topping out at 800 MB/s. With support for REDCODE Raw HQ capture, the XE maintains post-production flexibility for color grading, cropping, and visual effects. Simultaneous proxy capture and alternative format options maintain smooth integration with existing processes.

Built-In Controls and Monitoring
With several monitoring outputs and complete on-body controls, the XE maintains efficient operation on set and in the field. Constructed into the right side of the camera, the control interface provides a 2.4" LCD screen with easily navigable menus, delivering an AC or camera operator with diverse control over in-camera format selection and other important functions. Dual 12G-SDI ports produce unique observation views, while a USB-C port feeds data at up to 250 MB/s.
Advanced Connectivity
Supporting both wired and wireless IP interfacing, the XE enables cloud-based collaboration and app-based remote camera control. Whenever used with RED's RF to PL Adapter with electronic ND filters, the XE enables ND strength to be continuously adjusted over Wi-Fi in fine increments of 1/100 of a stop.
