New Large-Format Standard
This new DSMC3 flagship camera is the first large-format global shutter camera and the first to supply RED's Global Vision with a suite of tools that deliver unprecedented flexibility and dynamic range. Key incorporates shared with the original V-RAPTOR incorporate a locking Canon RF lens mount, a single CFexpress Type B card slot that allows up to 8K120 capture, and two unique 12G-SDI observation outputs. The V-RAPTOR [X] 8K VV additionally integrates a redesigned sensor cavity that mitigates stray light and enhances contrast, plus improved in-camera audio preamps.
Advanced, Smart Focus
In-camera processing and on-sensor, enhanced phase-detection autofocus plus all-new face detection permits the V-RAPTOR [X] to supply versatility and confidence to all levels of creators.
Global Shutter
The global shutter accurately captures your subject's motion, no matter how fast they're moving, with no distortion or Jello-like effects sometimes found with a rolling shutter. With the global shutter, you can capture every movement, flash, and burst without any compromise in picture quality, dynamic range, or flexibility in post-production.
RED Global Vision
With the V-RAPTOR [X] 8K VV, RED has introduced its Global Vision suite of tools that uses the global shutter sensor to supply even increased flexibility and ease of use throughout your production process. These tools incorporate Extended Highlights for increasing detail, producing finer HDR finishes or softer, more subtle highlight roll-offs whenever using SDR. Extended Highlights also includes 3+ stops of extra dynamic range, maintaining color and detail even inside extreme highlights.
Dynamic Range
The 17+ stops of dynamic range in standard settings and up to 20+ with Extended Highlights permit the V-RAPTOR [X] to produce both smooth highlight roll-off and uncompromising low-light performance.
Phantom Track
The Phantom Track function streamlines any virtual production process through GhostFrame or frame remapping, capturing distinct R3D clips for each subframe slice in addition to enabling observation of either slice live on set over each SDI feed. With a green-screen background, directors and talent can work normally while the VF/X team simultaneously sees the frame without viewing or locking in the background. Phantom Track can additionally be used whenever applying dedicated ad overlays during a live broadcast.
Up to 8K at 120 fps
Unmatched frame-rate performance permits V-RAPTOR [X] operators to leverage creative elements like time-lapse or speed ramping or to extract ultrasharp still photos. Frame rate options incorporate 8K, 6K, 4K, and 2K selections.
Built-In Control Display
The built-in side display delivers intuitive, easily navigable, and extensive control, including in-camera format selections, customized buttons, and more.
Virtual Production/Enhanced Connectivity
The V-RAPTOR [X] 8K VV uses a DSMC3 platform to supply advanced interfacing solutions like remote control, remote observation, in-camera Frame.io integrations, AWS (Amazon Web Services) direct upload, the RED Connect module for live 8K R3D footage over IP or live 4K via SMPTE ST 2110, and more. Live Streaming and Control Pro App

Durable, Durable Design
Designed with water and dust-resistant materials in critical areas of its body, the V-RAPTOR [X] can be used for a wide variety of settings. However, it is not waterproof and should be handled as you would any high-end electronics.
