When image acquisition begins, The Blackmagic Design Soundstage Fiber Converter is a bi-directional fiber optic connection for the Blackmagic body Fiber Converter. Able to communicate with a Unit Fiber Converter up to 1.6 miles away, the Soundstage Fiber Converter can be implemented in OB vans, television soundstages, and large venues to carry footage, audio, communication, and control feeds over a single SMPTE fiber link. On the rear panel, SDI links for HD or UHD 4K footage and HD return feeds are provided. Audio breaks out from the four XLR links. Additional links incorporate reference in and out, PTZ and intercom/tally on D connectors, Ethernet, and SFP fiber (requires separately provided SFP cage). The front panel provides a lone SMPTE fiber connector for the Unit Fiber Converter and a 5" screen.
