The ARRI ALEXA Mini LF (LPL) camera in this Lens Mount Set uses a large-format 4K development of the original ALEXA sensor. Three native 4K sensor modes support ARRIRAW or ProRes capture in LF Open Gate, LF 16:9, and LF 2.39:1. Combining large-format resolution with an optimal pixel size produces excellent image quality, including vivid nuance, natural skin color, and smooth bokeh. The large-format-optimized ARRI LPL mount accepts all PL lenses through a PL-to-LPL adapter. A wider opening and shorter flange focal distance than the original ARRI PL design allow smaller, lighter LPL optics.

Combining characteristics of the ALEXA LF and ALEXA Mini, the ALEXA Mini LF retains the LF sensor inside a Mini-style body. Its redesigned exterior places a media compartment on the left, two connector rows on the rear, and a slot for 1TB Codex media. Six configurable user buttons provide three more than the Mini. Additional connections include 12 and 24V power outputs plus a black-burst/tri-level input. Moving audio to a 6-pin connector prevents interference with the 5-pin timecode port.

The Mini LF records MXF ARRIRAW and MXF ProRes formats to 1TB Codex capture drives. Footage is effectively prepared for future HDR displays through EI 800 base sensitivity, 16-bit processing, and more than 14 stops of dynamic range. Rates reaching 90 fps produce smooth slow-motion footage and higher-clarity HFR (High Frame Rate) acquisition.

Its internal Large-Format Full-Spectrum Neutral Density (LF FSND) system supplies 0.6, 1.2, and 1.8 filtration. Further functions include support for existing ARRI Look files and workflows, playback of MXF ARRIRAW and MXF ProRes clips, and two-channel audio input through a 6-pin XLR connection.

This set combines the ALEXA Mini LF body with an ARRI LPL lens mount and PL-to-LPL adapter, enabling work with varied lenses.

Large Full-Frame Sensor with Three Operating Modes

High resolution is paired with optimal pixel dimensions to maintain the excellent image quality associated with the broader ALEXA range. The three recording areas are 4448 x 3096 Open Gate, 3840 x 2160 16:9, and 4448 x 1856 2.39:1 anamorphic.

Native 4K Recording with ALEXA Image Quality

The ALEXA Mini LF captures natural-looking skin tones and richly nuanced, vivid imagery in native 4K. Colorimetry compatible with WCG (Wide Color Gamut) and HDR (High Dynamic Range) workflows supports a subtle and immersive visual character.

Array of Recording Choices

With Codex capture drives, available rates extend to 40 fps in both MXF ARRIRAW and MXF ProRes 4444 XQ for LF Open Gate; 90 fps MXF ARRIRAW and 60 fps MXF ProRes 4444 XQ for LF 16:9; and 60 fps in both formats for LF 2.39:1 anamorphic. All three sensor configurations offer MXF ARRIRAW and MXF ProRes 444 XQ/4444/422 HQ/422 options.

Wide Exposure Latitude

HDR production benefits from a base sensitivity of ASA 800, reduced noise, and 14+ stops of dynamic range.

New LPL Lens Mount

Integrated into the ALEXA Mini LF, the LPL mount is designed expressly for large-format sensors. Relative to the original ARRI PL mount, its wider diameter and shorter flange focal depth enable more compact, lighter-weight LPL lenses than earlier large-format designs.

ARRI Signature Primes

The 16 separately available ARRI Signature Primes are large-format LPL lenses spanning 12 to 280mm. Their imagery features natural skin color, smooth bokeh, and an organically pleasing quality. ARRI's fast, comprehensive LDS-2 metadata system is included, while machined-magnesium bodies improve durability and reduce weight.

Compatible with PL Lenses, ALEXA Accessories, and Workflow Tools

Most lenses, accessories, and production workflows built around the ALEXA Mini remain compatible with the ALEXA Mini LF, including established ARRI Look files and software utilities. A separately sold PL-to-LPL adapter works with any Super 35 or full-frame PL lens. The camera transmits information from LDS-2, LDS-1, and Cooke /i lens-data systems.
