Designed for live video, the ALEXA 35 Live Standard System from ARRI combines exceptional imaging, flexible creative-look management, and essential camera-support hardware. The package contains an ALEXA 35 XTREME (XR) camera, LPS-1 FCA-1 Fiber Camera Adapter, FBS-1 Fiber Base Station, Multicam Support Set 2, and an FCA camera-to-Ethernet cable. Working together, these components bring the ALEXA XTREME's high image quality and frame rates reaching 660 fps into a complete live-production platform.
Cinematic HDR Imaging
A Super 35-format 4K sensor gives the ALEXA 35 Live XTREME system ARRI's distinctive cinematic rendering and supports the growing use of shallow depth of field in live programming. Its 17-stop dynamic range exceeds that of any other camera on the market, preserving strong results in difficult lighting for both SDR and HDR delivery.
A Wide Selection of Creative Looks
ARRI's integrated Look Library contains 87 cinematic presets, each offered at three color intensities and selectable with one button. This range accommodates a broad variety of capture situations. Purpose-built Multicam looks also supply efficient starting points for common live scenarios, including studio shows, concerts, and ski racing.
Uncompressed 4K over Fiber
The supplied LPS-1 Live Production System combines a Fiber Camera Adapter with a Fiber Base Station. A hybrid fiber connection can carry power and uncompressed 4K video simultaneously across runs reaching 1.2 miles, while tactical fiber supports distances as long as 6.2 miles. Additional fiber and Ethernet tunnels increase versatility by accommodating extra control, audio, or video signals.
Multicam Support Set 2
A TOP-1 top plate, LPH-2 top handle, and Touchdown baseplate system make up Multicam Support Set 2, allowing rapid changes between tripod operation and handheld shooting. The LPH-2 Live Production Handle incorporates a NATO rail for attaching displays such as the LPM-1.
FCA-1 Fiber Camera Adapter
A sturdy, self-aligning mechanical interface lets the FCA-1 Fiber Camera Adapter join the camera quickly and form one cohesive, easily managed unit. It offers familiar connections, intuitive operation, and a single FCA-to-Ethernet cable connection.
Optional License-Based Expansion
- Add capabilities to the Base set through extra licenses, purchased temporarily or permanently whenever production requirements change.
- Temporary activation periods include 7 days, 30 days, or one year.
NOTE: Upgrades are sold exclusively through the ARRI License Shop website. Available options cover ARRIRAW, 660 fps high-speed recording, Open Gate/Anamorphic capture, Pre-Record, and ARRI Looks and Textures. - A Premium License groups all five options listed above.
NOTE: The bundle costs the same as purchasing the upgrades separately, so individual capabilities may instead be added as needed for improved affordability.
FBS-1 Fiber Base Station
Multiple feeds can be output concurrently by the included Fiber Base Station, such as UHD 4K together with 1080p or 1080i HD. Its feature set includes a broadcast-grade down-converter, redundant power, 2-channel intercom, and professional audio inputs and outputs. Forward-looking SMPTE 2110 IP support is joined by a redundant SMPTE 2022-7 network with seamless protection switching for maximum dependability. Through its copper conductors, an SMPTE 311 hybrid fiber cable delivers as much as 400W to the camera and accessories while also carrying uncompressed 4K video.
Upgradable Capture at up to 660 fps
Reaching frame rates of 660 fps, the ALEXA 35 XTREME can remove the expense and logistical burden of carrying a second high-speed camera body. Its redesigned primary processor adds memory and performance, supporting capture at up to 330 fps with the complete 17-stop dynamic range or as fast as 660 fps within an 11-stop range.
Designed for Live Multicamera Integration
Common shading controls required by live production are built into the ALEXA 35 Live XTREME system, bringing ARRI's established image quality into multicamera environments. Beyond these familiar tools, additional creative controls can rapidly give a project a distinctive new visual treatment.
Next-Generation ARRICORE Codec
ARRICORE is a new RGB codec that lowers data rates to improve affordability while retaining excellent picture quality. Sensitivity, white balance, and tint are not permanently embedded, leaving more adjustment latitude for post. Its behavior remains aligned with established ALEXA 35 codecs, simplifying both set and finishing workflows. Familiar ARRI Textures, metadata, MXF wrappers, and audio behavior are retained, along with compatibility across most third-party applications. User feedback will guide further refinement of this ARRICORE beta release.
Lower Energy Requirements
Compared with the ALEXA 35, the 24V ALEXA 35 XTREME reduces power use by 10%. It operates from the included ARRI B-mount battery adapter and separately sold batteries. A single B-mount system can supply both 12 and 24V accessories, avoiding the size and weight associated with carrying two battery platforms. Compatible 26V batteries may also be connected through third-party adapters from Anton Bauer, Hawk-Woods, or CORE SWX. Seven additional accessory power connections are available through the included PDM-1 Power Distribution Module.
Comprehensive Creative Operation
Numerous established remote-control panels work with the ALEXA 35 Live XTREME system. ARRI recommends the separately sold Skaarhoj RCP, which pairs traditional RCP ergonomics with a powerful interface that can be customized completely. This design helps operators take full advantage of the camera's imaging performance while accessing broader creative control.
Purpose-Designed Multicam Hardware
Different ALEXA 35 Live XTREME packages address varying customer requirements, and owners of an ALEXA 35 can add Multicam extension sets when entering live production. Central to these packages are specialized ARRI accessories that adapt the system for different multicamera and live-shooting methods. Separately sold options include the Touchdown Baseplate system, LPH-1 Live Production Handle, LLA-1 Large Lens Adapter, TLM-1 Tally Light Module, MYS-1L Monitor Yoke Support, and a family of SAM Stabilizer Adapter Mounts.
Broad Lens Compatibility
- An included LBUS PL mount and PL adapter provide access to a broad selection of cinema-style lenses.
- Separately available mount adapters expand compatibility to numerous contemporary and vintage spherical, anamorphic, Super 35, and large-format optics.
- All widely used metadata standards are supported by the ALEXA 35 XTREME, and an optional plug-in enables real-time metadata streaming.
Multiple Operational Interfaces
Several carefully designed interfaces place configuration and control where operators need them, simplifying setup of the ALEXA 35 Live XTREME Multicam System. Both the Fiber Camera Adapter and Fiber Base Station incorporate a display and jog wheel for checking status and making immediate changes without unnecessary delay. ARRI Webremote supplies complete camera operation, while a dedicated Multicam web interface configures the Fiber Camera Adapter and Fiber Base Station, including diagnostics, software upgrades, and signal routing. For the separately sold Skaarhoj RCP, the Skaarhoj Reactor web interface handles full control, updating, and configuration.
